1. Is the Library open?

The Lafayette Library facility remains closed to the public at this time.

2. How do I pick up my hold items?

3. How long does it take for my items to be ready after I placed them on hold?

Staff runs holds reports and pulls requested items from the shelf twice per day Monday-Friday. Once your requested item has been pulled, you will receive notice that you are items are ready and can be picked up using our curbside service.

4. The item said "on the shelf" or "available" when I placed my hold. Does that mean I can pick it up?

Not yet! Online holds are a request for an item. When your items are ready, we notify by you by phone, text, or email. At that point, make an appointment online or call 303-665-5200. Alternatively, you may drop by during Curbside hours and call the pickup number, 303-661-1160.

5. How many items may I place on hold or have checked out?

You may place up to 25 items on hold at a time per account. You may have 100 items checked out at a time per account.

6. Do I need an appointment for each item on hold?

You are welcome to wait until a few items are in before making an appointment, but remember that items will only stay on the hold shelf for you for seven days. You only need to have one appointment. When we pull your items for your appointment, we will check for all items that are ready for pickup and prep them as well. 7. How long do I have to pick up my items?

Your items will remain on the shelf for seven days from the original email you received that your items were ready for pickup.

8. Can I send someone else to pick up my items?

Yes. Please contact us online or call us at 303-665-5200 to set pickup permissions on your account or make a note in your appointment reservation. There is also a spot on your reservation to let us know whose items you will be picking up.

9. What if I miss my scheduled appointment time?

Your requested items are checked out and bagged on the day of your appointment or the night before. If you miss a scheduled appointment, you may pick it up the same day before we close. After the day of your appointment, we will try to accomodate you, but you may be asked to schedule pickup on another day. If you miss more than two appointments without making other arrangements your holds privileges may be suspended. When the original holds period of seven days from the first notice has expired, your items will be put back in circulation.

10. When are my items due back?

Your due date slip will be included in the package with your items. No overdue fines will be charged. Items returned will be quarantined before they are removed from your account.

11. Can I renew my items?

Items eligible for renewal will be automatically renewed several times. You may also renew online.

12. How can I return library items?

• All items must be returned in the outdoor book drops. Staff will not be accepting returns. 
• All returned items will be quarantined for 3-7 days (you may see them marked as "overdue" until checked back in, but no fines will be charged.

13. Can I request items from other FLC libraries?

Lafayette cardholders may place holds for items from Lafayette and other FLC libraries. 

14. May I bike or walk to pick up my holds?

That is up to you! Our Curbside service is set up to best to serve drive-up customers. If you do arrive on bicycle or on foot, please wait further down the sidewalk to allow for social distancing at the Curbside table.

15. Are librarians available to help with recommendations or questions?
