1. What do I do about a missed collection?

The city waste program is contracted through Republic Services. Please inform them of the missed collection within 24 hours for prompt recovery.

The quickest way to get a response and get your container collected is to give Republic Services a call at 303-286-2400. You can also submit a form on their website.

2. What day is my trash and recycling picked up?

Residents on the City's three cart waste service program should call Republic Services at 303-286-2400, or view the online schedule on their website.

Other residents not serviced by Republic will need to reach out to their HOA or HOA-contracted trash hauler.

3. How do I set up or change my trash, recycling or compost service?

If you are on the City trash program and need to set up or change service or your cart size, please contact Republic Services at 303-286-2400. 

HOA communities, please contact your HOA for trash information.

4. Which bags can I use in my compost?

All compostable materials picked up by the city's compost program through Republic Services go to A-1 organics.  They are only accepting CMA Approved compostable bags and items, because those items are field-tested for disintegration to be sure they break down under our local conditions. There are many bags on the list to choice from.

It is preferable to use no bags if possible or to choose a brown yard craft bag or a CMA Approved green bag if you choose to bag your compost. It can be confusing for the hauler when people use bags that are white, because the hauler doesn't know if they trash bags or not.  

5. How do I dispose of my yard waste and branches?

For disposal of yard waste and branches, residents have the following options:

• Yard waste, leaves and branches that fit can be disposed of in your green curbside compost bin for residents on the city trash program through Republic Services. Please contact Republic Services or your trash hauler for details on the services available. 
• The City offers a free annual Spring Cleanup event in April/May for disposal of branches and leaves.  More information can be found on the City’s Spring Cleanup webpage.
• The City offers a free Fall Leaf Drop-Off where customers can bring their leaves and pumpkins to the City’s Service Center.
• Residents may also take their yard waste to Western Disposal in Boulder.  Please visit Western Disposal for acceptable items, fees, location and hours. (*Fees may apply.)

9. How do I dispose of old tires?

Colorado state law does not allow trash haulers to accept tires. Tire recycling may be available at your local tire vendor for a small fee.
