BOUNDARIES Contemporary Quilts Exhibit, through 9/23Explore Boundaries, as interpreted by Front Range Contemporary Quilters. Boundaries can be physical; a means of inclusion or exclusion. Positive and negative space are separated by a boundary. Boundaries can also be temporal, between the past and the future; or between what is acceptable to society and what is not. Concert for all ages. The Riverside is a band of friends from Santa Barbara, founded by husband and wife duo, Jacob and Lorien Jeanson. Whether performing on a street corner, in a house show, or on a festival ground, the band endeavors to bring back the love of raw live performance. Circled around one large microphone the band relies on one another to find balance in the music. This intimate type of performance is one that has seemed to be drowned out in a world of loud music. With vocal harmony and their folk-rooted stringed instruments, the band paints landscapes and tells their stories. Art on the StreetThe 2018 Art on the Street sculptures line Public Road in Old Town Lafayette. Take a stroll or view the website to enjoy the sculptures. Queen Buzzy Bee Artist: Michael Loop Morgantown, West Virginia Location: 101 N. Harrison Medium: Stainless steel, mild steel, enamel paint, gold leaf Price: $12,500.00 Artist Statement: My current body of work stems from our cultural obsession with collectibles, or more specifically aspects of Americana, through the creation of formal art making. My intent is to create a familiarity with the objects that I create without being overly representational through the deletion of specific parts, form, or particular visual cues. In doing so I seek to circumvent an immediate understanding by creating an investigation that elicits a sense of nostalgia, while at the same time creating a new perspective to an otherwise familiar object. http://www.michaelloop.com/ , FB
