Small Business Development Center
The Boulder Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provided a brief presentation on the 2022 satellite support programs for the cities of Lafayette and Louisville and the enhanced programming for 2023. The Boulder SBDC provides small business programs and support services for Lafayette businesses and supplements the cities’ current economic development efforts.
STAFF INTRODUCTIONS
Alex Nelson / Management Fellow
The Management Fellow position is a benefited two-year post-graduate fellowship in city administration, designed to assist recent or soon to be graduates in developing the skills necessary to become effective local government leaders. The City received 29 applications and narrowed the applicants to the top four. Those candidates were interviewed by a cross departmental group including the City Administrator and Deputy Administrator. Alex Nelson was ultimately chosen as the successful candidate and began with the City on January 23.

COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS
City Council approved a motion to appoint Ellen Laverdure as a full member of the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission and Maegan Vallejo as an alternate member of the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission
STAFF REPORTS
City Attorney’s Report: The City’s Special Counsel for Oil and Gas has notified City Attorney Macsalka of participation opportunities for a number of upcoming oil and gas proceedings. Council was in support of the opportunities brought forward for: new source performance standards, air quality control issues affecting disproportionally impacted communities, cumulative impacts from oil and gas operations, and state Air Quality Control Commission coalition participation.
COUNCIL REPORTS
Mayor Mangat: Coal Creek Meals on Wheels is requesting a March for Meals proclamation. Council is invited to join them for lunch in March. Interested in bringing Chat with Council sessions back starting in March.
Councilor Barnes: Appreciative of the oil and gas initiative support which advances the climate justice items on Council’s Near/Next list.
Councilor Samson: Thank you to Boulder County Housing Partners for ensuring the Eagle Place Apartments continue as an affordable housing option. Updated Council on a pending list of State Legislative issues.
Councilor Walton: Thanks to City Attorney Macsalka for participating in the NW Parkway conversations.
Mayor Pro Tem Wong: Thanks to Romero’s K9 Club for organizing LafaYeti Day on 2/6. The Town of Superior is interested in meeting with Council.
