Summer = time off!Get outside and enjoy yourselves, and we will see you back in no time! The Library is closed (and book drops locked) on these dates: - Sunday, May 28 - Memorial Day
- Monday, May 29 - Memorial Day
- Monday, June 19 - Juneteenth
- Tuesday, July 4 - Independence Day
Book drops lock at closing the night before the holiday and remain locked until 9am on our next open day. Don't stress--we are fine free, so just get items returned soon!

Summer Reading ProgramAll ages - read for fun, earn books to read later! Set and track goals using a paper passport or sign up to track online instead. Goals can include reading targets, attendance at fun events at the Library and around town, and any activities that support learning for fun. Earn books, plus a sticker good for admission to the Summer Reading Finale at the Great Outdoors Waterpark on Friday, Aug. 4! (Kids and teens under 18 who earn the admission sticker may bring up to two adults with them.)
Sign up starting June 1 at the Library, online, or at one of our offsite Storytimes or events! Learn all about it on our website. Kickoff CelebrationThe Library and Arts & Cultural Resources Department invite you to kick off Summer Reading in style, with an all-ages Jeff & Paige concert at Festival Plaza at noon on Thursday, June 1!
Teen Volunteers
Teens in grades 6-12: help with Summer Reading, or at events or offsite storytimes, or help shelve books! There are still lots of ways to earn volunteer credit and have fun this summer! Visit lafayetteco.gov/TeenTeam for all the details!

- Youth sewing workshops, ages 10-15 - Learn to use a sewing machine, and complete a project. Sign up for one or more!
Wednesday Buddies, June 14-July 19, 4:45-5:30pm Have fun reading, playing games, or working on projects with other kids and teen volunteers. Thursday Senior Learning Club, June 15 and July 20, 1-3pm Ages 55 and older: sign up with the Rec Center to make something in the Library Makerspace! Friday Science Club with CU Boulder/PISEC, June 9-July 21 (except July 14), 1-2pm Kids in grades 3-5...sign up for science fun this summer! In Friday Science Club with PISEC, you and CU student mentors will have fun, hands-on physics experiments!
Learn English or prep for your GED with the Learning Source, July 19-Aug. 31. Visit the Learning Source to find and register for classes taught at the Library. Drop In/Explore lafayetteco.gov/LibraryCalendar - Drop-in Tech Help with Connect Digital Inclusion Labs, 1-3pm, Sunday, June 18 and July 16. Tech-savvy, helpful high school students provide this amazing free service to help with any questions about your phones, tablets, computers or other tech issues.

We have lots of Teen Maker Hangout and Makerspace Drop-In hours this summer! Check the calendar to be sure it is on (we do have to cancel sometimes), and visit our Makerspace page to learn how to get involved! - Paws to Read - Second and Fourth Sundays, 1:30-2:30pm
Kids ages 5-10 - drop in to spend 15 minutes sharing a book with a special therapy dog! - Wellness Crafts with Mental Health Partners - Tuesdays, June 6 and July 18, 3-5pm
Kids and teens - drop in for mindfulness crafts and activities with the Mental Health Partners. Stop by the table on the Upper Level the first Tuesday of the month.

Book Sale, Aug. 5-13 During Library hours Support the Library - proceeds fund literacy programs. Buy books of all genres, DVDs, gently used puzzles, children's games and small gift items such as candles, note card, and soaps. Most items under $4! The Friends welcome donations of fiction or nonfiction in good condition, DVDs, gift items, and puzzles with all parts!
