Artists wanted! Lafayette Cultural Resources is calling for sculpture submissions for the 2014 Art on the Street Sculpture Walk. This program provides artists nationwide the opportunity to showcase their work in this creative, diverse and eclectic community.
Art on the Street, in its sixth year, is the largest sculpture on loan program in Boulder County. Selected sculptures will be on display outdoors for one year. Artists’ submissions are due November 1, 2013. Sixteen works will be selected; artists will each receive a $500 stipend upon installation. All sculptures are for sale in this outdoor art display. There is also a $1000 people’s choice award.
Each selected sculpture will receive a QR code linking to the City’s website where information about the artwork and the artist will be available. Through the website people will be able to access information about the sculptures, artists’ statements, a teacher’s curriculum packet and other activities. Lafayette’s 2013 Art on the Street program also included interactive components to encourage community engagement. The 2013 Art on the Street: See & Respond! Show included 2-D Art and Poetry. They create a unique attraction and centerpiece for the City of Lafayette.
