Do you have questions about the Xcel Franchise Renewal? -- Attend a community meeting on 8/10 or 8/15 to better understand this important issue for Lafayette residents.

Lafayette residents will be voting whether or not to renew the City’s franchise agreement with Xcel Energy in November. This is a very important issue that will affect Lafayette services. We hope to answer any questions and provide information to share with your friends and neighbors.

COMMUNITY MEETINGS
Saturday, 8/10
10:00am
Lafayette Library / 775 W Baseline Rd

Thursday, 8/15

Some questions you may have…
* What is the franchise fee?
* Who will provide Lafayette’s gas and electricity if the Xcel franchise is terminated?
* Is the City restricted from pursuing alternative energy options if the Xcel franchise is renewed?
* What benefits are there for Lafayette residents if the Xcel franchise is terminated?
* What are the negative outcomes for residents if the Xcel franchise is terminated?
* Will terminating the Xcel franchise “send a message” to big business?
* What other cities are currently operating under an Xcel franchise agreement?
* Is Lafayette looking to create a “municipal utility” similar to what Boulder is currently in the process of trying to do?

Please forward this information to your neighbors and encourage them to attend a meeting.
