[ARCHIVED] Yarrow Park and Waneka Lake Park - watering permitted to re-establish formalized grass areas

In an effort to re-establish significant large areas of formalized grass sections at Yarrow Park and Waneka Lake Park, Public Works Permits 2013-01 and 2013-02 temporarily exempt the Parks Division from Ordinance No. 7, Series 2013. These Public Works permits allow specific turf areas at Yarrow Park and at Waneka Lake Park to be watered using automated irrigation methods between 10 am and 6 pm to establish grass seed by keeping the seeds damp so they may sprout. The irrigation will run between 10am and 6pm daily through mid-July (or until the seed has adequate growth). The large die-offs of grass occured due to the 2012 drought conditions and lack of early 2013 winter moisture.
