Art on the Street

Art on the Street, in its fifth year, is the largest sculpture on loan program in Boulder County. Selected sculptures will be on display outdoors for one year. Artists’ submissions are due November 1, 2012. Sixteen works will be selected; artists will each receive a $500 stipend upon installation. All sculptures are for sale in this outdoor art display. This program is not limited to local artists; finalists will be accepted from a nationwide pool of artists. More information can be found at www.cityoflafayette.com/CFA

Each work of art is eligible to win the Jean Mellblom People’s Choice Award which comes with a $1000 cash prize. All participating artists are recognized at a reception where the winner is also announced.

Don’t miss the chance to be part of the up and coming art scene that Lafayette has to offer! Apply for this opportunity to display work in a unique community where members appreciate, support and encourage art. Residents, tourists and visitors come for a special opportunity to experience Lafayette’s art scene. Additionally Art on the Street sculptures are highlighted as part of five Art Night Out events, in the Lafayette Recreation Department’s heART Walk, and as part of an education outreach program. They create a unique attraction and centerpiece for the City of Lafayette.

Initially founded in 2009, with grant money, this program has grown from 8 sculpture which were part of the inaugural year to 16 sculptures on loan along Public Road. Selected artists will be notified in early December. Installation is the last week of March.
