Members of the Lafayette Youth Advisory Committee (LYAC) recently announced a mini-grant program intended to mobilize local youth to create positive social change through student service. Rooted in the Committee’s mission, the mini-grant program seeks to empower Lafayette youth to develop and implement youth-centered service projects. Applicants may apply for $100 to $500 in funding.
LYAC will accept project proposals from youth groups through April 7, 2014. Applicants must be between the ages of nine and 19 and affiliated with a school or community-based youth group within the City of Lafayette. While all project proposals will be considered, priority will be given to youth groups who actively seek to address and/or raise awareness about issues impacting local youth through service-learning projects, youth initiatives, and special events. Projects are required to be implemented by August 1, 2014. In addition to offering funding, members of LYAC will provide grant writing training and technical assistance to interested youth as requested.
