Drug Take Back and Document Shred event

The Lafayette Police Department participates in the national prescription drug take back events each year.

National take back day provides the public an opportunity to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction.

Items not accepted are: 
  • needles
  • mercury thermometers 
  • oxygen containers 
  • chemotherapy or radioactive substances 
  • pressurized canisters 
  • illicit drugs.
The shred event provides the public an opportunity to safely get rid of old documents and possibly avoid identity theft.
  • Please limit your items to no more than 3 bags or boxes.
  • Items which cannot be accepted are newspapers, phone books, magazines or catalogs.
