Art on the Street: See & Respond!

Lafayette invites community members of all ages to "See & Respond" to the annual Art on the Street sculpture on loan program through 2-D art, photography, or poetry. See & Respond! is a beloved tradition in Lafayette. The Art on the Street artists enjoy seeing responses to their sculptures and our community loves expressing itself and contributing to the creative conversation.

2021 See & Respond!

Poets, Artists, Photographers of all ages! The call for entries is now open! Download the entry form for adults 18 and over, or the entry form for youth in grades K-12.
Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021.


The See & Respond exhibit will be on display at the Lafayette Public Library Sept. 28-Oct. 30, 2021.

See & Respond! Call for Artists General Information

  1. Cash prizes available for 2-D Art, Photography, and Poetry inspired by 2021 Art on the Street.
  2. Three age groups: adult (18 and over); and youth: middle & high school; elementary school.
  3. Limit of two entries per person in any combination of poetry and/or 2-D art and photography.
  4. $10 entry fee for each adult submission - Make checks payable to ARTS!Lafayette.
  5. No entry fee for youth entries.
  6. Entries must be suitable for all ages and display in a public facility.
  7. All entries must be submitted with the official entry form attached and delivered according to the directions on the entry form.
  8. Teachers wishing to submit batch entries must contact Public Art Coordinator Stacey Bernstein for special instructions.

2-D and Photo Requirements

  1. All artwork shall be delivered to The Collective, 201 N. Public Road no later than September 7, 2021; 5 PM.
  2. Selected art will be on display in the library gallery during the See & Respond show September 28 - October 30, 2021.
  3. Selected art must be framed or wrapped canvas with a wire on the back in order to accommodate the hanging system.
  4. Youth work must be framed with a hanging wire on the back, or fit in 8"x10" or 11"x14" size frame.

Poetry Requirements

  1. Poems may be in English or Spanish.
  2. Poems may not exceed 2 pages.
  3. Poems should be in a standard 10pt or 12pt font.
  4. Two printed copies, one with no author name, should be mailed or delivered by September 7, 2021, with the entry form to: The Collective 201 N Public Road; Lafayette, CO 80026.
  5. Selected poetry will be on display in the library gallery during the See & Respond! exhibit.
