Overview 

We are here to work collaboratively and support the local business community and other partners to enhance economic opportunities and provide for economic diversity and inclusivity, and high quality of life. Our agency offers a variety of programs and resources that benefit employers, entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations, and businesses. 

Enterprise Zones 

The Enterprise Zone (EZ) is a state-funded program that was created to promote a business-friendly environment in economically distressed areas by offering state income tax credits that incentivize businesses to locate and develop in - and non-profit organizations to assist with the needs of - these communities. Areas of Longmont, Lafayette, and Broomfield recently received the North Metro Enterprise Zone designation. Click here to learn more about Lafayette’s Enterprise Zone.

Opportunity Zones

Opportunity Zones encourage economic growth via private capital investment by providing a tax incentive for investors to reinvest in disadvantaged communities. This program will bolster new business starts and business growth and development of real property and infrastructure in locations that are well positioned for investment. Click here to learn more about Lafayette’s Opportunity Zone.

LURA Façade Improvement Programs 

The Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority Facade Improvement Program enhances and preserves the unique character of Lafayette, improves the economic vitality and marketability of the downtown, and creates an inviting environment that will encourage visitors to stay for extended periods of time. Any owner or tenant of a commercial or residential building within the Urban Renewal Districts can use grant funds for improvements made to building facades that are visible to the public from the street, sidewalk, or alley. Historic Building Improvement Grant 

Lafayette is one of the few communities in Colorado to offer grants to support the preservation of older buildings directly. Buildings 50 years and older may qualify for grant awards from $500 to $2000. Since 2014, the Historic Preservation Board has awarded over $26,000 to help defray the cost of maintenance, repairs, and restoration of historic buildings.  Click here to learn more about the grant program from Historic Preservation.

Excel Rebate 

For Colorado businesses, Xcel Energy offers unique programs to assist with managing energy costs and achieving improved efficiency. Green Business Program 

The Green Business Program provides education, training, incentives, and sustainable solutions that are customized for each business – no matter how big or small. Colorado Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) Program 

C-PACE enables Lafayette owners of eligible commercial and industrial buildings to finance up to 100% of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water conservation eligible improvements.
