In January 2023, City Council approved the Economic Development & Housing
Strategic Plan. This plan builds on the Legacy Lafayette Comprehensive Plan (and work conducted by the Livable Lafayette Task Force) by identifying specific short- and longterm actions to help create a more resilient, sustainable, and vibrant economy that allows people of all backgrounds and incomes to live, work, and thrive close to home in Lafayette. The Strategic Plan answers three broad questions:
- Where are we now? Overview of existing conditions related to the City’s socioeconomic profile; housing market analysis; and an economic market analysis.
- Which direction should we go? What is missing and what are strategic opportunities (and constraints or challenges) for growth?
- How do we get there? Actionable, short-, medium-, and long-term strategies for achieving the City’s economic development and housing goals.
The economy and housing are linked together in many ways, with decisions about one often impacting the other. Combining both economic development and housing will help ensure that the City has a cohesive plan with complementary strategies for both topics. Check out the approved plan below:
