About the Lafayette Fire Department
The Lafayette Fire Department (LFD) serves the community of Lafayette and neighboring Boulder County areas providing fire and emergency services through education, prevention, and mitigation with dedication, commitment, and compassion. The Fire Department’s continued vision is to keep moving the organization forward and provide the highest customer service to the community and surrounding service areas. LFD personnel are highly trained and motivated individuals who consistently seek ways to improve the system. Through education, training, seminars, and statistical data collection, we are continually analyzing how to best provide services to the citizens of Lafayette and our neighboring cities and towns.
The Lafayette Fire Department provides ALS EMS response and fire/rescue services from two fire stations. There are 36-line staff on each shift, including two lieutenants and a battalion chief. Annually the department responds to approximately 3,500 calls for service and works closely with neighboring agencies. The department participates in county-wide hazardous materials, wildland, and technical rescue programs. Firefighters work a 48/96 schedule and are compensated under a collective bargaining agreement.
