Waste Hauler License

On November 2, 2020, City Council approved the expansion of the City’s Three Cart Waste Program to most residential areas in the City. 

Ordinance No. 21, Series 2020 outlines requirements for residential waste haulers operating in the City of Lafayette to provide garbage, recycling, and organics collection services. Residential waste haulers must establish a base service rate (32-gallons) and rates for all service levels, obtain a collection license from the City of Lafayette, and follow reporting requirements beginning Nov. 2, 2021.

  • Annual Services Report (Microsoft Excel): Due January 31 of each year
  • Bi-Annual Tonnage Report: (Microsoft Excel): Due February 15 and August 15 of each year 
    • Please only enter in tonnage by stream and sector, equations will automatically calculate the rest

Reporting Requirements

Waste haulers are required to submit an annual services report and bi-annual tonnage reports in Microsoft Excel.

  1. By January 31 of each year, waste haulers must provide:
    • Complete list of collection services offered in Lafayette
    • Rates of collection services
    • Frequency of collection for recycling, organics, and garbage
  1. By February 15 and August 15 of each year, waste haulers must provide a tonnage report including: 
    • Total aggregate tons of waste collected in the City 
    • Total aggregate tons of waste collected in each sector (residential, multifamily, and commercial) 
    • Total tons of garbage, recycling, and organics collected from all sectors served (residential, multifamily, and commercial) 
    • Total tons of garbage, recycle, and organics collected from each sector (residential, multifamily, and commercial)
