Prescription Drug Take Back Service

Free, year-round prescription drug disposal is located at Lafayette Police Department Records Division, 451 N 111th St., from 8am to 5pm Monday-Friday, excluding holidays. 

Protect others and the environment by bringing unwanted medications for proper dispose.

  • Most prescription medications
  • Patches
  • Ointments
  • Vitamins
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Pet medications
  • Unused inhalers
  • Unused injection cartridges/syringes, if safely protected

Not Accepted

  • Used or unprotected syringes
  • Thermometers
  • Oxygen containers
  • Used inhalers
  • Aerosol cans
  • Liquids containing hydrogen peroxide
  • Chemotherapy or radioactive substances
  • Illicit drugs

National Take Back Day

The Lafayette Police Department also participates in the national prescription take-back events each year. These events are usually scheduled each spring and fall, providing local locations to drive up and drop off. 

The National Take-Back day provides a unified opportunity to drop off any expired, unwanted, or unused medications to law enforcement officers for safe destruction. When an event is scheduled, it is posted on the Police Department's calendar.
