Dogs and pets at public events

Thank you for leaving pets at home to provide a safer and more positive experience for all attendees at public events - including pets! Service animals are welcome.

Resolution 2016-44 allowing only service animals at City-sponsored events

Hot pavement, crowds, and other dogs can impact pet safety and well-being at public events. Effective with the passing of Resolution 2016-44 in June 2016, the City is requiring event attendees to leave pets at home to provide a safer and more positive experience for all attendees – including those pets. Service animals are allowed to accompany their owners at all Lafayette event.

City-sponsored events include but are not limited to:

  • Lafayette Quaker Oatmeal Festival*
  • Celebrate 4th of July
  • Art Night Out
  • Lafayette Farmers Market
  • Summer Concert Series
  • Waneka Movie Nights
  • Lafayette Peach Festival
  • Lafayette Brew Fest
  • Lafayette Easter Egg Hunt

* For the Oatmeal Festival 5K: Leashed dogs under control of their owners may participate in the race.
