Assessor Records

Between May and October 2015, University of Colorado Boulder graduate Christina Pearce took digital photographs of the Old Town Lafayette assessor cards that are available at the Carnegie Branch Library for Local History in Boulder.

Ms. Pearce has abundant experience with historical archives and determined that taking photographs would be the best approach to creating digital versions of the cards because they are larger than a standard scanner bed. To make them as usable as possible, Ms. Pearce cropped the digital images and saved them as pdfs in addition to jpgs. Each assessor card, which was used to calculate property tax, has two sides. Some properties have multiple cards if numerous building permits and modifications were requested. Information on the cards generally dates between about 1948 and 1956.
